Study on cross-process interference in strong-field electron emission published

Researchers have developed a new theoretical method to analyze quantum interference between direct and recollided electrons during emission from metal tips under ultrashort laser pulses. By combining classical trajectories with the numerical solution of the time-dependent Schrödinger equation, they have succeeded in precisely describing the underlying processes. These findings were recently published in Physical Review Letters and enable a more detailed understanding of interference phenomena in strong-field photoemission.
